Battle of the Bards - The Job

The band awake in the inn where they started.

Is this place ever open? exclaims Hydrica as he peeps out of the window spotting a notice board with various posts over it and the most recent post is about a job for Lady Carla, enquire within the Actors Guild.

Hieronymo gets up and starts iterating what he saw at the theatre yesterday.

A Posh Lady all dressed up was being thrown out of the theatre by a female tiefing with a male tabaxi, several elves, a dragonborn, halfling helping to throw out the Posh Lady.
The Posh Lady had footmen

It is only then that they realise that Clodagh is not with them, but left a note.

"Had enough of you boys, off to the Feywild for some girly time, have a bath, your gross!"

Hydrica thinks back and realises that the mob were all wearing T-shirts, but there was more of them than the T-Shirts they collected.
They put this down to the fact that Burt was going to send move over to the Battle of the Bands later, so that must be it.
But they were not all Black t-shirts...
Oh well

Bardo disguises the band and the band make their way to the actors guild to enquire about the job (hopefully the mania over the band will have died out a bit).

At the Actors Guild the receptionist orders them to clean up in the washroom before she will announce them to Lady Carla.

After washing the dry crusted blood off of them selves, with Bardo taking 10 times the time to ensure not only is the dried blood off of him, but his hair is perfect, they meet Lady Carla.

Lady Carla proclaims that she is on the board of the Actors Guild and a patron of the arts

Lady Carla is a well-to-do noblewoman who fancies herself a patron of the arts.

Being such an important part of the arts, I was invited to a performance by the three leads, Delaney, Oread and Cleave, where they performed a few select songs from the upcoming musical.

During a meet and greet, I provided my constructive feedback to Oread

The lovies did not take to my kind feedback, that Oread sounded like a tone deaf Ostridge and during the kafuffle my purse and ring were stolen by someone impersonating one of my footmen.

For the return of Lady Carla's signet ring she offers 1,500gp or three uncommon magic items, and an extra 500gp for the name of the thief.

The band accept the offer (as well 1) gets them off the streets while the mob is about, 2) it pays)

Lady Carla explains how the party is going to sneak into the opera - they will pose as extras.

She has used her influence at the guild to decide who gets to apply for the open extra positions.

This was my programme from the evening, which lists all three leads. One of them is the doppelganger thief.

Some further tips for you my darlings:
  • The police refused to help because of the director's powerful crime connections.
  • A wizard diviner was more useful: she learned that the thief was a doppelganger and that her ring was still inside the opera.
  • The mortar of the old fortress walls is laced with lead. Spells like locate object do not work inside the opera.
  • The opera was already searched at night by the thieves guild after it closed with no success. To find the signet ring, you will need to find the thief.
  • If the director realizes that you are not really extras, they will get thrown out.
  • The director, an ex-adventurer and the niece of a crime lord

So it seems the band is going the the Opera!
