A Good Day to Bard Hard - S04E18 - Anarchy Rolled in Echos

The catacombs breathe with a strange rhythm, as if the stone itself is keeping time. The deeper the band go, the more the air vibrates with a low, pulsing beat. Shadows stretch unnaturally along the walls, swaying in time with the sound.

Lemmog walks through the fake illusory wall into a small room and sees four Resonance Wraiths shimmering like heat haze, their forms constantly shifting between humanoid silhouettes and jagged soundwaves. Their eyes are hollow voids, but their mouths open into endless, screaming static. When they move, the air ripples with invisible pressure.

As the band start killing off the Resonance Wraiths, each one emits a haunting melody and a line

    Resonance Wraith 1
Inside, we both know what's been going on

    Resonance Wraith 2
We know the game and we're gonna play it

    Resonance Wraith 3
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

    Resonance Wraith 4
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you

The band then head down a passageway and see the hallway open up into a large cavern/hall.

Beyond the Resonance Wraiths lies the Hall of Echoes, a vast chamber where the Choir has gathered. Dozens of masked figures sway, their chanting building toward a fever pitch. The Spark stands at the back, his eyes glowing faintly, his hands poised over a strange, jagged instrument that seems to drink in the torchlight.

Ahead is a large mob of cultists.

In front of Sparky is the Echo Choir 15 Unsound Bards, flanked by 4 thieves.

Bo encases most of them in silence, Hydrica in a stinking cloud.

Lemmog and Ekham start despatching Cultists and Bards

Hydrica despatches some other Cultists and Bards

    Gribble does his best.....

After about 6 seconds, Spark transforms into a titan God of Anarchy

Causing devastating shock and awe and frightening the band when they try to hit him and mostly fail

The band identify that the God of Anarchy currently cannot hold its form and every 6 seconds switches between being Sparky and the God.

When the god returns, it flies into the air and drops to the ground, creating an area of ruin, dropping Ekham and Hydrica, and collapsing part of the ceiling, collapses and the shadow spire falls to the ground.

    Lemmog saves Ekham

    Gribble Saves Hydrica

Bo steals the jagged crown off of Sparkies head using Mage Hand

Lemmog then cleaves Sparky in two to remove any chances; no encores for Sparky.

The search Sparky and with some identify casting.

    Shadowspire

The Spire’s song consists of three elements the players must match:
    • Pitch (Low, Mid, High)
    • Rhythm (Slow, Steady, Fast)
    • Tone Colour (Bright, Warm, Hollow)
The band as a group identified each of the above via Performance, Arcana and Insight checks
    • Pitch Low
    • Rhythm Steady
    • Tone Colour Hollow

    Final Activation

When the band tuned the Spire it rose up and burst through the ceiling and into the sky, floating there, then released a Resonance Wave - The Discord Purge
The Spire emitted a sharp, cleansing tone. All undead and aberrations within 1 mile must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or be destroyed instantly. Survivors are weakened, suffering disadvantage on attack rolls for 24 hours.

The hole revealed that the band were beneath the amphitheatre of shards, a ruin where sound carries for miles..

    Crown of Feedback

    Wondrous Item (Artifact)

Appearance: The Crown of Feedback is a jagged circlet of tarnished silver, studded with shards of cracked crystal that hum faintly. When worn, faint whispers and distorted echoes of the wearer’s own voice can be heard, as if reality itself is replaying their thoughts.

Lore: Forged in the Plane of Static by a forgotten bard-turned-sorcerer, the Crown was meant to amplify inspiration. Instead, it magnified every stray thought, every doubt, until the wearer’s mind became a storm of noise. The artifact now seeks hosts whose emotions burn bright—feeding on their chaos.

    Properties:

    • Amplified Presence: While wearing the Crown, you gain advantage on Charisma (Performance) and Charisma (Intimidation) checks. Your voice carries unnaturally far, and your words seem to vibrate in the minds of those who hear them.
    • Resonant Power: Once per long rest, you can unleash a Wave of Feedback (30-foot radius). All creatures of your choice in range must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 18) or take 4d8 thunder damage and be deafened for 1 minute. On a success, they take half damage and are not deafened.
    • Chaotic Inspiration: Whenever you roll a natural 20 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you may immediately take one additional action. This action must be used before the end of your turn.
